Plano Permanent Tooth Replacement Here are a few questions to consider after a tooth extraction: Is a dental bridge cost-effective? Do I want to damage two healthy teeth to anchor the bridge? Should I decide on a partial denture? What about bone loss?

What if you could have a fresh start? What if you could have a permanent, natural looking tooth replacement that would restore your smile and retain the healthy bone and gum tissue around the tooth root? If you elect a dental implant, you can.

A dental implant is a permanent replacement for all parts of the tooth. It consists of three parts: the titanium post, the abutment, and the restoration.

The Titanium Post
—Inserted directly into the jaw bone
—Extremely strong
—Titanium is unique in that it bonds with living bone tissue (also used in knee and hip replacement surgery)

The Abutment
—Can be made of gold, porcelain or titanium
—Permanently attached to the post (it will not slip and slide like dentures)

The Restoration (Crown)
—Usually made of porcelain fused to a metal alloy (PFM)
—Is made to match the color of surrounding teeth
—Will look as good or better than the tooth it replaced

Dental implant surgery is not an experimental treatment. The unprecedented materials and techniques have been tested and refined for several decades. Moreover, it has been performed by Plano dentists and prosthodontists for over twenty-five years. To schedule a dental implant consultation, call 972-468-8279.

gum contouring Plano

Most dental patients know that cosmetic, restorative and orthodontic dentistry procedures improve your teeth. There are treatments to reshape teeth, straighten teeth, repair damaged teeth, whiten teeth, and replace missing teeth. But what about your gums? Do you realize how integral your soft tissues are to the overall appearance of your smile?

The shape and size of your gumline can make your teeth appear too large or too small or otherwise out of proportion. Gum contouring can correct gums that appear too low or too high in relation to the teeth and tailor them for the perfect smile.

Plano dental patients who are unhappy with their gums might want to look at gum contouring. Many dentists and periodontists offer gum contouring surgery.

This procedure is also called gingival sculpting, gingival contouring or gum graft surgery, but don’t let the term surgery frighten you. It is performed with a precision laser and is minimally invasive. The procedure usually involves little pain and requires no recovery time.

Gum reshaping is not always done for purely cosmetic reasons. Dentist use it to treat gum recession, a common condition that can lead to decay and tooth loss. In gum graft surgery, soft tissue is ordinarily taken either from the roof of the mouth, the area surrounding the site of the grafting, or a tissue bank. Gum grafts applied to exposed tooth roots protect teeth from continuing gum recession and decay and reduce tooth sensitivity. Of course, gum grafts often increase the attractiveness of the smile in the process.

If you are seeking more information about gum contouring, gum recession, or any other dental procedure, call The Plano Dentist today at 972-468-8279 to schedule a smile makeover consultation.

Fort Worth smile makeover

A smile makeover can boost your confidence for an upcoming job interview, promotion or new relationship. The process may include teeth whitening, invisible braces, veneers, dental implants, or gum tissue graft surgery.

Many of these take time. Understanding the process requires only a simple consultation. Small changes can make a big difference.

How The Rich Do It
Public figures around the world would advise you to:

  • Choose a dental professional with excellent education, a discerning eye and impeccable track record in the cosmetic dentistry field.
  • Consult with the professional, chart a course, and trust the course enough to see it through to completion.
  • Websites are great for cosmetic dentistry track records, education info, staff description and contact details. Visit The Plano Dentist’s website at https://www.theplanodentist.com/meet-the-dentist/.

Do Not Cut Corners
Cheap glue and shoddy engineering never stopped a plane crash. Every smile transformation should have a unique treatment plan to achieve optimal results. There is no magic pill. Healing takes time before proceeding to the next step. Dental implants, for instance, are valuable in the comfort and beauty they offer but pushing the placement of the permanent restoration before proper healing is dangerous and risky. Learn to be patient with the goal in mind.

Better Smile, Better You
Is this the year to reinvent yourself? Consider improving your physical fitness, taking up a new hobby, pursuing continuing education or a new career to go along with your new smile.

A smile makeover is defined differently for every person. All it takes is one essential consultation with this dental professional before you are on your way to your remarkable smile.

Dr. Bushey’s capable staff schedules patients for consultations and cosmetic dentistry, dental crowns, and cosmetic dentistry procedures. We offer services from restorative dentistry to teeth whitening including family dentistry, Invisalign, and dental implants.

Call 972-468-8279 to schedule. We are located at 3115 W Parker Rd Ste C538 in Plano, Texas and on the web at https://www.theplanodentist.com/meet-the-dentist/.

Malocclusion is dental-speak for crooked teeth. When you examine all the different ways numerous 3-dimensional objects can be positioned, it is not surprising that malocclusion presents itself in multiple forms. The number of configurations may surprise you:

When teeth slant forward, it is called upper protrusion, but you may have heard this condition referred to as “buck teeth.”

An overbite occurs when the upper front teeth come down too far over the lower teeth when the mouth is closed. And underbite is the reverse condition – the upper front teeth close farther back than the lower front teeth. An open bite refers to a bite in which the upper don’t overlap the lower teeth. This can be present on the whole bite or just one side.

Tooth rotation is one of the most common forms of malocclusion. Rotated teeth appear as if they are twisting out of place. Tooth rotation can create the illusion of uneven coloring because of the way light reflects off the face of teeth.

When the upper and lower palate are misaligned to the point where the upper teeth close onto the wrong side of the lower teeth, it is called a cross bite.

In some rare cases – called transposition – teeth erupt in spots where other teeth should be. For example, a canine (pointed tooth) comes in where an incisor (front biting tooth) should be. Can you imagine trying to chew if your teeth have been playing musical chairs?

Many people with crooked teeth are too self-conscious to smile, but aesthetics are not the only issue at play. Crooked teeth can increase the risk of cavities, tooth damage, and TMD temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Young children with crooked teeth may have difficulty learning how to speak, and if they can’t chew meat and raw vegetables correctly, they may miss out on necessary nutrients due to a limited diet.

If you or your child has crooked teeth or a misaligned bite, we invite you to schedule an extensive examination ASAP.

What makes up a perfect smile? White teeth? Straight teeth? Teeth with pleasing proportions relative to one another? A stunning smile is more than the sum of its parts. At The Plano Dentist, we believe that your perfect smile also contains another element – your unique personality.

What is a smile makeover? Is is a combination of procedures that remedy any problems with your existing smile. First off, we look at the health of your teeth. If you have cavities, we take care of those first. Oral health is paramount.

Modern cosmetic dentistry offers a multitude of tooth restoration treatments. On the least invasive end we have dental bonding and inlays/onlays. These can often be completed in just one visit. Porcelain veneers can remedy small imperfections such as chips. A veneer can also correct the shape of a tooth that is misaligned.

If you have teeth that are not structurally sound, you may need a dental crown. The crowns we provide at The Plano Dentist blend perfectly with your existing teeth. No “chiclet” effect where the crown sticks out like a sore thumb.

What if you have a tooth that is completely missing? Ask us about dental implants. This permanent tooth restoration is actually anchored into the jawbone, offering strength, natural function, and protection from bone recession. With a tooth implant, there is no need to damage the two adjacent teeth as is necessary for a dental bridge. There are a variety of dental braces available for our Plano patients who need orthodontic treatment. Ask us about invisible braces to straighten your teeth without all the metal.

Perhaps your greatest need is to repair prior dental work performed elsewhere. We can remove old silver fillings and replace with natural tooth colored fillings and replace broken dental crowns.

The crowning touch? Tooth whitening.

Because everyone deserves to smile!

Do you have a missing tooth?
Are you considering the different types of restorative dental procedures available?
Does a dental bridge seem to make the most sense financially?

If you have a missing tooth and want to restore that gap in your mouth, it is essential to examine the differences between a dental bridge and a tooth implant.

Dental bridges have replaced teeth for generations of Plano dental patients. However, they have some drawbacks:

  • They are a 3-tooth solution to a 1-tooth problem – the adjacent teeth must be prepped and crowned to hold the replacement (floating) tooth.
  • It is hard to properly clean the small areas under the bridge.
  • A dental bridge does not protect against bone recession at the extraction site.

Why does a tooth implant have advantages over a dental bridge?

  • It is a 1-tooth solution to a 1-tooth problem.
  • It is usually stronger.
  • Will cut down the risk of bone recession (as compared to a bridge) because it replaces the tooth root.
  • It is usually not as difficult to clean as a dental bridge – lower risk of decay.
  • They ordinarily last longer.
  • Dental implants can support a denture or partial denture.

If you need to replace a tooth, talk to your Plano dentist about dental financing options. If you choose a dental implant, it will probably be less pricey in the long run.

If you want to learn more about dental implants, I invite you to call The Plano Dentist at 972-468-8279.  We are committed to restoring smiles for Dallas area patients with unforgettable permanent restorations. Call today to schedule a dental implant consultation.

Fort Worth cosmetic smile makeover

Have you ever taken an unexpected trip to the drugstore looking completely unkempt in a rush to pick up an emergency item – say cough medicine or a must-have poster board for your child’s school assignment?

On such an occasion you will inevitably bump into someone you know. How do you feel in your baggy sweatpants and stained T-shirt? Or worse yet, pajamas?

Our outward appearance affects the way we feel inside. In professional situations, don’t you feel more assertive when you are wearing flattering, pulled-together business clothes? Aren’t you more likely to vocalize your opinion when you are comfortable in your own skin?

When facing someone for the first time, don’t you feel better when you are having a good hair day or have cleared up a recent bout of acne? Blind dates are brutal when you don’t feel at the top of your game.

Attractive clothing, well-groomed hair, and a fit body boost confidence for most Plano folks. But do you know what people notice before any of these features? Your face. Specifically, your smile and eyes. Multiple studies have shown that beautiful teeth and eyes immediately capture attention. Now, it’s difficult to change your eyes unless you get colored contacts. But beautiful smiles are within reach because Plano dentists can work miracles with cutting-edge cosmetic dentistry.

With specialized training, finely honed skills, modern equipment, and quality lab services, expert dentists can turn unattractive smiles into stunning first-impressions using a variety of cutting-edge cosmetic dental procedures. The Plano Dentist patients who have received smile redesigns report feeling more confident, more attractive, more effective at work, and happier in their relationships. Some even say that they take more risks and notice more success.

If you are not pleased with your smile, you are probably not aware of the affect it has had on your confidence and self-image. Don’t hide behind an unsightly smile any longer. Call The Plano Dentist at 972-468-8279 today to schedule an informative cosmetic dental consultation.
