About Your Dentist, Dr. John Potter
Dedicated to people and clinical excellence Dr. John Potter believes that everyone deserves to smile. With a life-long history of striving for the excellence, Dr. Potter continues that quest each day with every patient.
He is a member of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, Crown Council and an active contributor to the Smiles for Life campaign – one of dentistry’s largest charitable organizations.
Originally from Edgewood, Texas, he became interested in dentistry while volunteering in a dental practice during his high school years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University where he appeared on the Dean's List for academic achievement six times and spent semesters abroad studying at Oxford University, University of Madrid, and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
His high academic achievements earned him an academic scholarship to the Dental School at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Serving people and giving back has always been part of his educational and professional philosophy including volunteer work early in his education at the Lafayette Crisis Center in Philadelphia, doing dental work for children in the underserved communities of Philadelphia, and volunteering for Bridging the Gaps providing mentorship and health education for children with disabilities.
He is a big believer that great dentistry is the combination of art (aesthetics) and science (function) and strives for excellence in both areas inside and outside of the practice. In addition to his professional pursuits he loves music having played the piano and guitar in his own bands since high school.
